Center for Contemporary Art w Tel Avivie prezentuje pierwszą indywidualną wystawę Agnieszki Kurant w Izraelu. Artystka skupia się na inteligencji zbiorowej, współdzielonych fikcjach, a także na niewidzialnej i „niematerialnej” pracy. W pracach takich jak seria rysunków Linia produkcyjna, wykonana online, przy użyciu metody crowdsourcingu, przez tysiące robotników, czy A.A.I., rzeźbach z barwnego piasku, złota i kryształów, utworzonych przez kolonie termitów, Kurant kwestionuje indywidualne autorstwo.
Jej badania nad niewidzialną pracą i niezauważalnymi siłami kontrolnymi obejmują też takie prace jak Air Rights – lewitujący meteoryt – i Cutaways – krótki film z trójką bohaterów, którzy zostali wycięci w procesie montażu z większych produkcji i których odgrywają oryginalni hollywoodzcy aktorzy.
Wskazując na kwestie niewidzialnej pracy i współdzielonego autorstwa Kurant stawia też pytania o wartość. W świecie sztuki, bardziej niż gdziekolwiek indziej, tożsamość autora jest kluczowa dla ustalenia wartości pracy. Kurant podkopuje tę ekonomiczną zależność w pracy Mutations and Liquid Assets, ktora składa się z kilku małych rzeźb sławnych artystów stopionych w jedno. Posuwając strategie sztuki zawłaszczenia o jeden krok dalej, praca ta stanowi głos w dyskusji o zmiennym statusie obiektów artystycznych i ich transformacyjnym potencjalne.

The CCA presents Agnieszka Kurant’s first solo exhibition in Israel. Kurant focuses on collective intelligence, shared fictions, as well as invisible and “immaterial” labor. She questions singular authorship with works such as “Production Line,” a series of drawings crowdsourced to thousands of online workers, and “A.A.I.,” sculptures made out of colored sand, gold and crystals by colonies of termites.
Kurant’s examination of invisible labor and the unseen forces of control extend to works such as, “Air Rights,” a levitating meteorite, and “Cutaways,” a short film featuring three characters who were cut out of major films during the editing process and who are re-played by their original Hollywood actors.
By pointing to invisible labor and shared authorship, Kurant also raises questions about value. In the art world in particular, the author’s identity is paramount to establishing an artwork’s value. Kurant undermines this economic trope with“Mutations and Liquid Assets,” which consists of several small sculptures by famous artists melted together. Taking appropriation one step further, this work discusses the shifting status of art objects and their potential for transformation.
